The First World War or the Great War

    

The major spark of World War I is the assassination of Austrian Hungarian throne in 28th June 1914 by a small group of people. The group wanted to be free from Austrian Hungarian and create an independence Hugo Serbia. On responsible for the assassination, Austrian Hungarian declared war with Serbia on July 28, 1914 exactly one month after the assassination. Another causes of the Great War, some historian said, it is because of the tension such as imperialism, economic, resources between European countries: France, United Kingdom and some other countries which shared the tension.

    During the war, Serbia made an alliance with Russia, mean while, Austrian Hungarian made an alliance with Germany. As a result the alliance making, on August 1st, 1914, Germany declared war against Russia. Germany and Austrian Hungarian also against the allies group which are France, United Kingdom and Russia in August 4th, 1914. At the mean time, when United Kingdom entered the war, its colonial domains: Australia, Canada, Indonesia, New Zealand and South Africa also joined the war at a certain degree. In August 13th, 1914 Japan joined the war according to the military treaty with the United Kingdom. Italy entered the war by joining with the allies and against Germany and Austrian Hungarian, later known as central power, by the following year.
Bulgaria also entered the war with central power in 1915. Along with the allies, Rumania and Portugal enter the war in 1916; and in 1917 Greece also joined the war with the alliance. Not until 1917, the United States of America did not join the war. It did enter the war against Germany in April 6th, 1917. There were three million people from the alliance and twenty four million people from the central, altogether about over sixty million people joined the Great War.
The technology used and weapons during the Great War was quite advanced. Mainly, both allies and central power used rifles. Machine guns were used by large power. One of the significant in the war was the using of poison gas which was first used by the French. In 1916, the British used tank firstly in against Somme.
The treaty of Versailles in 1919 ended the war between Germany and central power. Russia agreed to sign at the treaty and cease many of its land to Germany. At the treaty Germany was response for the cause of the war by paying a lot of money.
